Ennis is the #1 ranked IBF candidate. For a while, he was the USBA’s #1 candidate, and no opponent, not even Lamont Peterson, wanted to fight him. So the empty title goes to 2nd and 7th place, and the winner will be ranked IBF world.

According to www.fightnews.com Ennis is WBA No. 3, WBC No. 6, WBO No. 5 and IBO No. 3. Ennis, 28-0 (26), will have his next match in March or April in the promotion through the promotion. Showtime will be his last fight before the approximate world title fight in September.

This was preceded by another draw with Egidijus “Mean Machine” Kavaliauskas of Lithuania, who in 2019 was then stopped by WBO champion Crawford in December. In February 2018, Robinson was stopped by Ugas.
A possible matchup for Ennis would be with Eimantas Stanionis, WBA 1st place, 13-0 (9), of Lithuania, or WBA world champion Radzhab “No Mercy” Butaev, 14-0 ( 11), of Russia. In addition to these two, former WBA Super World champion and WBC number 4 winner Keith “One Time” Thurman, 29-1 (22), of Clearwater, Florida, and his seventh opponent Mario “El” Azteca” Barrios, 26 -1 (17), of San Antonio, Texas.
In his final game against Ennis in October 2021, he knocked out Thomas Dulorme, 25-5-1, at 1:49 of the first round. In another match in 2021, Ennis knocked out former IBF Welterweight lightweight champion Sergey “Samurai” Lipinets, 16-1-1, of Kazakhstan.
In his previous game, his eighteen-match streak ended with a first inning without competition for the IBO world title vacated with Chris “The Heat” Van Heerden, 28- 1-1, of Johannesburg, South Africa, at 2:39 of the first inning when he hit Van Heerden with their heads colliding leaving Van Heerden unable to continue after receiving a blow from Ennis. He hasn’t fought since. His previous loss was to Spence in September 2015, stopping a nine-game winning streak.
