Calumet Ranch will have three new stallions on its roster for the 2022 breeding season, led by Tier 1 award-winning millionaires Cat . Channel and Real wood .
Channel Cat, purebred son of Calumet .’s late lead sire English Channel , is a multi-graded stakes winner who won this year’s Man o’ War Stakes (G1T) at Belmont Park for coach Jack Sisterson. He made a 6-4-5 record from 30 starts and retired with $1,456,022 in earnings. The 6-year-old horse is out The joy of kittens winner Carnival Kitten , half-sister with the winner bet 1 Red Moloney . The immediate family has also produced tier 1 and sire’s Lark winners and graded multi-stakes winners and Sire Dove Hunt. Channel Cat enters stud at $7,500.
True Timber is the 7-year-old son of Mineshaft who won the 2020 Cigar Mile Handicap (G1) for Sisterson and Calumet, who bought him for $170,000 weaning from St. George Sales at Keeneland’s November 2014 Livestock Share Sale. Racing from 2 to 6, True Timber also puts in eight other classified shares, including three at level 1 and retires with $1,215,150 in earnings.
