Tom Holland confirmed as Fred Astaire
In a red carpet interview for a promotional event “Spider-Man: There’s No Way Home” in London, the Netherlands casually told reporters “Oh, I’m playing Fred Astaire.”
“The script came out about a week ago,” he said in a video posted by the Associated Press on social networks. “I haven’t read it. They haven’t given it to me.”
Holland said producer and former Sony Pictures executive Amy Pascal had the script and they discussed the role.
“She’s FaceTimed me before. I’m in the tub,” he said. “And we had a lovely FaceTime, but I’ll be playing Fred Astaire.”
Pascal told GQ in a recent Holland story that she wanted the actor for the role of the legendary dancer in the upcoming biopic.
She also said that as far as she was concerned, Holland could play “Spider-Man” in the movies she produced until he no longer wanted to.
“I talked to him about doing, like, 100 more,” she said. “I would never have made a Spider-Man movie without him. Are you kidding me?”
