There have been quite a few new vehicles launched during the year as shortages of components and semiconductors continue.
Here are the top five new car reviews that got the most attention from our native Australian readers.
Review of Toyota Corolla Hybrid 2022
The Toyota Corolla is a car that needs little introduction.
In Australia, the Corolla consistently tops the passenger car sales chart, easily beating it hyundai i30, Kia Cerato and Mazda 3.
Part of the Corolla’s recent success has been the petrol-electric hybrid powertrain option, with most competing models still unable to offer the same engine technology at a competitive price point.
Toyota has since launched a Update for the Corolla line for the 2023 model year brings updated technology, a more powerful hybrid engine, and some aesthetic tweaks.
Review Mazda CX-60 2023
Mazda announced ambitious plans to launch a number of new vehicles between now and 2030, including an all-electric vehicle to complement the brand’s current single electric product, the MX-30.
But before that, Mazda is embarking on its journey to electrification through plug-in hybrid technology in line with the introduction of a new range of SUVs. The first of these to arrive in Australia will be Mazda CX-60 2023.
Mazda has since detailed Full price and specification launch date of the most luxurious SUV ahead of first deliveries in April 2023.
Haval H6 Hybrid Review 2022
haval is doing what most of its competitors can’t. It is solving TOYOTA RAV4 continue with the new one H6 hybrid.
It’s available in a full trim level and costs about $4,000 less to drive than the most expensive front-wheel drive RAV4 and $10,000 on the road.
There’s more to the H6 Hybrid than its sharp sticker price. With 179kW of power and 530Nm of torque, it makes a whopping 210Nm more than the turbocharged H6 petrol engine through the front wheels.
Review Tesla Model Y 2023
The launch of Tesla Model Y has been a long time coming in Australia. Tesla imported three cars into the country last November for testing before they were expected to go on sale.
This car has been around for a while in other markets, including Europe, where reception for its performance has not been very positive.
We’d love to see how it will handle Australian roads and some of the unique conditions we throw at cars.
Review Ford Ranger XLT V6 2023
This car needs no introduction. The new one Ford Ranger is the biggest new car launch in Australia this year, and the V6 is the engine type that buyers are most interested in.
Unlike the fully loaded Wildtrak, or even the mid-range Sport, the XLT V6 needs to get through a rough patch.
On one hand, its price tag and V6 engine mean it needs to be a pretty ute is capable of transporting a family comfortably. The XLT badge, on the other hand, appeals to traditional crafters or off-road enthusiasts who want a decent, affordable base to build their dream truck.
Honorable Mention – Holden Monaro Convertible Review
While this isn’t a new car review, it’s technically in our five most read reviews of the year and well worth mentioning.
When hold withdrew from Australia in 2017, several prototypes, design sketches and stories emerged.
That includes the story of what will be Holden Monaro convertible. Not Marilyn, the Monaro-based convertible built for the 2004 Melbourne auto show, but the original one based on the VN Commodore.
