Total foreign direct investment stood at $54.1 billion for the April-November period of the current fiscal

The total foreign direct investment (FDI) the country received was worth $54.1 billion in the April-November 2021-22 period, down from $81.97 billion received in the period. corresponding section of the previous fiscal, the government informed Parliament on Wednesday.
Total FDI includes equity inflows, reinvested income and other capital.
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said FDI inflows play an important role in raising capital in the country and helping to promote industrial development and job creation in various sectors and industries, Commerce Secretary Piyush Goyal said in a written response to a question at Lok Sabha.
In a separate reply, the Minister said that as of January 31, 16,737 startups have been recognized by the ministry.
In another reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Grassroots Commerce Minister Som Parkash said to provide seed funding for startups through approved incubators across all across sectors and fields, the Indian Startup Seed Fund Scheme launched by the Department of Industry and Internal Trade Promotion. (DPIIT) on April 16, 2021.
On December 31, 2021, Rs 232.75 crore was approved for granting to 58 incubators and 146 startups were funded by those approved incubators, he added.
