Field staff were working to clear snow from the pitch when the announcement was made after consultations between the referee and two managers.
Tottenham released a statement on social networks which read: “We can confirm that today’s match against Burnley has been postponed due to adverse weather conditions.”
Burnley also posted a statement moments later and said: “Due to concerns about the playing surface and surrounding areas, it is considered that the game cannot be safely continued.”

“As you can see, the pitch recovers every time they clear it,” said Burnley coach Sean Dyche. “The referee also explained about the safety angle so making an early decision is very important.
“It fell so fast and so heavy. It’s still pretty strong now. [The pitch] can’t get out of the snow that fast. It’s the lines that are also being deleted – we’ll have to stop and delete them. It is a decision shared by everyone involved.
“We were ready for the game and I made it clear whether it was playable or not that we wanted – as did their manager. I don’t know how it could have turned out the way it was. grass at the moment.”
Spurs looking to bounce back from Europa Conference League shock defeat at Mura midweek, with new boss Antonio Conte criticized the players for their performance.
The north London club have remained unbeaten in two games since Conte replaced Nuno Espirito Santo earlier this month.
Due to the postponement, Spurs are in 7th place in the table while Burnley is still in the relegation zone.
The Premier League has yet to confirm when the match between the two sides will be rescheduled.
