TOYO INK INDIA PTE. LTD., a member of the Japan-based chemical manufacturing group (formerly Toyo Ink Group), today announced plans to expand its solvent-based adhesive manufacturing capacity at the facility. Manufactured in Gujarat, India. A new manufacturing facility will be built at the Gujarat plant as part of expansion plans to meet growing local demand. The plant is expected to start operations in April 2026 and will help increase the Gujarat region's adhesive capacity to 3.5 times the current output.
Toyo Ink India, a subsidiary of the art conglomerate, announced plans to expand production of solvent-based adhesives in Gujarat, India. Toyo Ink aims to become the leading adhesive manufacturer in India, targeting a 30% market share by 2026.
In 2014, Toyo Ink India started importing adhesives from Japan and selling them to the domestic market for auto interiors and over the years has expanded its applications to home appliances and labels. In December 2021, a manufacturing facility was established in India, in the state of Gujarat, allowing the company to respond more promptly to customer needs and further develop its business. As demand from these markets increased, adhesive production capacity became scarce, leading to the decision to invest further in production to support current and future growth.
India ranks fifth in the world GDP rankings in 2024 and is expected to jump to second place in 20 years. Accordingly, domestic demand for industrial adhesives is expected to increase due to increasing new car sales due to urbanization and transition to nuclear families, as well as rapid growth of the consumer electronics market.
