Former President Donald Trump will restrict a part of himself on social networks, even if Elon Musk lifts Trump’s ban, according to a Filing with the SEC from EASYigital World Acquisition Corp.
Trump is obligated to first post to Truth Social, a new social network he supports, and cannot publish the same content on another social media site for six hours. He could then post to “any website he has access to,” according to the filing.
The six-hour policy will mainly affect Trump Twitter use if he is allowed to return to the platform under potential owner Elon Musk.
Trump is still free to post from his personal account political messages, political fundraisers or voting efforts on any platform at any time, the filing adds, which could bring giving him longer time in case he runs for office in 2024.
Digital World Acquisition Corp has an agreement to buy Trump Media & Technology Group, the publicly owned company of Truth Social.
Twitter permanently suspended Trump relinquished the platform in January 2021 following an attack by his supporters on the US Capitol. The company said it made the decision after the January 6 riots “due to the risk of further inciting violence.” Trump is a tweeter enthusiast and at the time had more than 80 million followers on the platform.
Trump has said he won’t return to Twitter even if invited, but CNBC previously reported that some those close to him say they expect Trump to return to the platform by any means.
