Tucker Carlson Scolds Ted Cruz for Calling Jan. 6 a ‘Terrorist Attack,’ Asks ‘What the Hell Is Going On?!’
Fox News host Tucker Carlson decried Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Wednesday for the unforgivable sin of calling Uprising of the Capitol a “violent terrorist attack,” accusing the radical conservative lawmaker of “repeating points Merrick Garland had written.”
Cruz, one of eight GOP senators protester certifying the election of President Joe Biden on January 6, 2021, drew the wrath of the MAGA . devotees on Wednesday when he described the storm of the US Capitol with clarity.
Cruz said during a Senate Rules Committee hearing. “And this is the anniversary of a violent terrorist attack on the Capitol, where we witnessed law enforcement men and women demonstrating incredible courage, remarkable bravery. Shocked, risking his life for the Capitol.”
Those remarks did not sit well with Carlson, who was charge leader downplaying the January 6 riots while shows the Capitol attack as a “false flag” organized by federal agents in an attempt to “purge” conservative Americans.
The right-wing Fox News star kicked off his show Wednesday night by first targeting Attorney General Merrick Garland for calling the riots incited by Trump “an unprecedented attack on our democracy.” After criticizing the attorney general for vowing to hold those responsible for January 6 accountable, Carlson hinted that the Justice Department purposely failed to pursue some of the suspects involved in the riots.
“He didn’t mention the pipe bomber,” Carlson declared, referencing Unidentified individual left an explosive device near the US Capitol. “That individual was caught on surveillance tape. The pipe bomber answered the phone several times. That’s the trace. Where is that person? Merrick Garland doesn’t mention that.”
The conservative host went on to mention another individual present at the attacks who has not been arrested or charged, wondering aloud why no Republican senator “seems concerned” that that person is no longer in the sights of the DOJ.
“What are they busy doing? Recalling the points Merrick Garland wrote to them,” he simmered before airing a clip of Cruz disparaging the January 6 attack.
“Now let’s be honest,” Carlson announced. “All conservatives appreciate Ted Cruz. You may not like him. But you have to appreciate him. He’s legally smart. He’s one of the more obvious people to serve in Congress, perhaps the most obvious. “
Declaring Cruz “did not happen to use a word,” Carlson noted that Cruz was an “attorney” and that “every word” the senator said was “used with intent.” He then scoffed at the notion that anyone might think it was an uprising when an ambitious mob violently stormed the government seat to overturn an election.
“He described January 6 as a violent terrorist attack. Of all the things that happened on January 6, it was certainly not a violent terrorist attack. It’s not an uprising,” Carlson exclaims. “Was it a riot? Sure. It was not a violent terrorist attack. Sorry! So why are you telling us it’s, Ted Cruz? “
He concluded: “What the hell is going on here? You are making us think, maybe the Republican Party is as worthless as we suspected. That cannot be true. Reassure us, please, Ted Cruz. ”
