The Twitch streamer Kefalsreal name Clara Sorrenti, known for her political commentary and support for the transgender community, is Drunk and was arrested at her home on August 5 after the bad guys sent a fake email threatening others on her behalf.
Keffals on Tuesday posted a video describes the incident and says she was woken up with a gun by London, Ontario police after an online scammer impersonated her and sent threatening messages to every member of London’s city council. The fake email, which Keffals said police showed her while questioning her, said that Keffals had killed her mother and intended to go to town hall with an illegal gun to harm others.
Keffals says she remains a suspect in an ongoing London police investigation. According to her account, her brother had previously warned authorities that she could become a target for such abuse. Additionally, Keffals said she was effectively locked out of her social media account because the police were still in possession of her phone, which she needed for two-factor authentication.
“Swapping is a crime,” she said in the video posted Tuesday. “Identity theft is a crime. And because it’s a hate-fueled crime against transgender people, it’s a hate crime against me.
“Instead of the police helping me, they terrorize me and my loved ones,” said Keffals, who also said police repeatedly die name her in the interrogation. She provided pictures of search warrant and property bag allow the raid on her house.
Keffals, herself transgender, is a popular political commentator and streamer on Twitch, best known for confronting transphobia in her videos. In July, Twitch bans her after a user falsely flagged a video in which she speak against abuse she usually gets on the platform. Twitch reinstated her channel two weeks later, after noticing that she appeal of the ban is correct.
Hatred and harassment continues long-term issues on Twitch for disadvantaged creators. In the fall of 2021, the creators organize a walk to call attention to the spread of hate by users of the streaming platform. Over the past two years, Twitch has take legal action against those the company says are behind the hate attacks; set up new features For security; and even chat icon changed related to violence.
Polygon has reached out to Twitch for comment on Keffals’ arrest. Keffals told viewers she doesn’t know when she’ll be back on the air, but in the meantime she has Set up GoFundMe to help her move and recover from the incident.
