Two new Royal Bengal cubs were born at Assam State Zoo and Botanical Garden in Guwahati on Thursday.
A Royal Bengal tigress named “Kazi” gave birth to two cubs last week. With these cubs, the herd of Bengal tigers in the zoo has grown to nine.
Kazi previously gave birth to two cubs, named Sultan and Suresh, in August 2020. The cubs are all healthy.
Dr Ashwini Kumar, Forest Officer of Assam State Zoo, informed that the mother and cubs are in good health, zookeepers have taken all precautions to protect protect them from the biting cold by placing a heater outside the cage and having enough hay inside. surround.
The main director of the Forest Conservancy (Wildlife), Amit Sahai, said the mother is being cared for with a nutritious diet. He added: “About 6-7 kg of meat is being provided to the mother along with other food according to veterinary regulations.
Mr. Sahai said the focus was on providing a hygienic environment for the animals in the zoo. He adds: “Focus on hygiene and cleanliness in and around the barn so that the mother dog and her cubs do not get any diseases,” he added.
Mr. Sahai is optimistic that the zoo will be able to attract more visitors now with the arrival of new inmates.
Meanwhile, forest management agencies have asked Forestry and Environment Minister Parimal Suklabaidya to name the newly born tiger cubs. Mr. Suklabaidya has named several animals in the past that have become popular.
