Tyson Fury Vs. Oleksandr Usyk targeted in March in Saudi Arabia
Via Barry Holbrook: The undisputed clash between WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and IBF, WBA & WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk is being targeted for March in Saudi Arabia.
Mike Coppinger reports that Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) and Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) could meet in March in Saudi Arabia. Fury, 34, needs to win his bout against British domestic heavyweight Derek Chisora on December 3 to raise hopes for an undisputed showdown with Usyk.
The boxing public won’t be happy that Fury’s fight with Usyk could take place overseas in Saudi Arabia, but that’s clearly where it could make the most money. Unless someone from the UK with big pockets can get Saudi money, the war will be in the Middle East.
While there’s little chance for Fury to lose to 38-year-old Chisora, you can’t trust Delboy because he has enough power to score a knockout if he can land something on the button.
“Tyson Fury called Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua. Tyson Fury, of course, the heavyweight champion, and Usyk Usyk claimed the heavyweight championship,” Max Kellerman said on Max on Boxing.
Tyson Fury fights Derek Chisora on December 3, and it could serve as a correction for Oleksandr Usyk. Sources told ESPN that side-to-side talks are underway over Fury and Usyk, with March in Saudi Arabia being a possibility for the undisputed heavyweight championship fight. #FuryUsyk pic.twitter.com/mZFFwWQrkj

“Neither Joshua nor Usyk seem eager to fight the 6’9”, 265-pound boxer, now also power champ.
“So to stay active, Fury will now be fighting the very reliable Derek Chisora, but one he was defeated by wide margin. One time stop. “
“We never believed that Fury would fight Joshua. It never seemed real to me, even though they said all the right things openly. I think for a long time, Fury wanted to fight Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed championship.
“I was informed that there are still talks to have Fury fight Usyk in Saudi Arabia in March for all four titles. I suppose Fury sees Joshua as a pacemaker. Fury doesn’t think Joshua presents much of a challenge and Chisora seems to be the only one with a big name in the UK.
“Like you said, he [Chisora] a reliable opponent. The point is that Fury has beaten him twice already, so who really wants to see that again?
“For the adjustment to Usyk, I don’t really mind. I think we’re going to fight, and I don’t know where Joshua is going from here.”
“It’s almost like Tyson was Apollo Creed in the first Rocky. Remember, Apollo was so much better than everyone that there was no one to fight. So he came up with this gimmick; Who will be Rocky? Who will play Rocky for Tyson Fury’s Apollo? “Kellerman said.
