Ukraine flag color lights up buildings in global solidarity show
New Delhi:
Buildings around the world are lit up with the colors of the Ukrainian flag to show solidarity after Russia invaded Ukraine.
The buildings are Cinquantenaire Park in Brussels, the Colosseum in Rome, Flinders Street Station in Melbourne, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Skopje.
US President Joe Biden vowed to defend “every inch” of territory of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, or NATO, but reiterated that no US troops would be deployed to Washington’s allies.
“As I have made clear, the United States will defend every inch of NATO territory with the full force of America,” President Biden said in a speech to the nation from the White House. However, the president added: “Our forces will not engage in a conflict with Russia in Ukraine.”
NATO will hold a virtual summit today on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The union announced after an emergency meeting that “extra steps” were being taken to protect member states.
