Ukrainian forces field rare Russian light armored vehicle
Ukrainian forces are currently armed with a relatively rare Russian KAMAZ-43269 light armored vehicle, also known as the BPM-97 Vystrel.
The BPM-97 is the latest addition to the growing collection of modern Russian combat vehicles and tanks that the Ukrainian military has begun to use in its fight against the Russian invaders.
The vehicle is based on the Kamaz-4326 Mustang multi-purpose truck chassis. It has a steel cover. It provides comprehensive protection against 7.62 mm bullets. The front arc can withstand 12.7 mm heavy machine gun bullets. The vehicle has a V-shaped hull to improve mine resistance.

The BPM-97 provides seating for up to 12 soldiers, including the driver and commander. Troops disembark through the side or back doors. There is also a roof hatch. Some firing ports are provided for the military.
Vystrel was designed for use as an armored personnel carrier with a conventional design.
