Ukrainian Soldiers blow up and destroy Russian artillery system
Ukraine’s 44th Ranger Artillery Brigade destroyed a Russian 2S5 self-propelled artillery system in eastern Ukraine.
Footage released by the Ukrainian military appears to show the 152 mm 2S5 Giatsint (Hyacinth) self-propelled howitzer being hit by a Ukrainian bomb. A huge explosion followed, with smoke rising into the air.
The 2S5 self-propelled howitzer is a non-propelled howitzer mounted on a six-wheeled crawler chassis similar to that of the 152 mm 2S3 self-propelled howitzer.

The 2S5 Giatsint is armed with a 152 mm / L54 cannon without a turret. This gun comes complete with a load assist system. The maximum rate of fire is 5-6 rounds/min.
Giatsint fires conventional HE-FRAG ammunition and is supported by rockets, HEATs, cluster and smoke rounds. Maximum firing range with conventional HE-FRAG ammunition is 28.4 km and up to 33 km with missile-assisted ammunition.
Some sources claim that the 2S5 is capable of firing 0.1-2 kT nuclear projectiles. The full ammunition base includes 60 rounds, however, only 30 rounds are carried by Giatsint. The other rounds are done by the supply truck. This artillery system takes 2 minutes to prepare to fire.
