Unconfirmed Liz Truss phone hack report prompts calls for investigation

The UK government is facing investigative calls after an unconfirmed media report claims the former British Prime Minister Liz Truss’ her phone was hacked while she was a foreign secretary.
The UK’s Mail on Sunday reported that private messages between Shoes and international foreign ministers, including messages on the war in Ukraine, as well as messages with former finance minister Kwasi Kwarteng, had “fallen into foreign hands”.
The paper claimed that the hack was discovered during the Conservative Party leadership’s campaign in the summer, during which Truss was eventually appointed prime minister.
The newspaper also claimed that “agents suspected of working for the Kremlin” were behind the hack, citing unnamed sources.
CNN was unable to independently verify Mail on Sunday’s claims, whether a hack took place or who may have been behind it.
CNN has reached out to the Russian Foreign Ministry for comment.
A UK government spokesman told CNN the government “does not comment on security arrangements of individuals”, but added that it has “robust systems in place to protect against potential threats”. cyber threat.”
The chairman of the government’s Defense Select Committee, Conservative MP Tobias Ellwood, told Sky News on Sunday that Russia is “getting better and better at these cyber attacks and hacks”.

The UK’s opposition parties have demanded an investigation into the reported claims.
