US’ consumer price index surges 0.6% in August 2023

In August 2023, the US CPI-U rose by 0.6 per cent, as per the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Significant contributors were the energy sector, experiencing a 5.6 per cent spike, and a 0.3 per cent increase in the index excluding food and energy, amounting to a 4.3 per cent yearly surge.
The apparel sector also saw a minor increase of 0.2 per cent in August.
