Usyk says talks with Fury stuck “at an impasse”
Via Jake Tiernan: Oleksandr Usyk says his negotiations with Tyson Fury are at an impasse and cannot progress to their fight in December in Saudi Arabia.
IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) didn’t say how far between him and WBC belt holder Fury is in this fight, but it’s not a good sign. negotiations are once again deadlock.
Although negotiations have not gone smoothly, Usyk believes he will eventually fight Fury, but he did not say when. Fury has reached a difficult time to negotiate in his career, and that can only get worse as long as he continues to win.
For Fury’s career, this would be a disaster because it shows that he is no longer able to negotiate fights against the highest level of opposition.
Recently, we have seen similar deadlocked negotiations between Usyk and Fury before after the two could not agree on a rematch split.
Some boxing fans believe that Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) was never serious about wanting to fight, so he opted to use tough negotiating tactics, knowing Usyk would never agree.
Usik said rotation that his negotiations with Fury are stuck “at an impasse. The battle will happen sooner or laterr. And everything will be decided in the ring.
“A big man with great ability in boxing and in life, but This big man is very afraid of losing,” Usyk added about Fury.
“People talk about Tyson Fury boxing on June 22. People are talking about him fighting Andy Ruiz,” Eddie Hearn told iFL TV. Andy Ruiz has clearly priced himself in. People will price themselves out.
“So Tyson won’t make a lot of money, and before you know it, you’ll be in training camp in September or August for your December battle. So it really isn’t that far away. I understand Usyk-Dubois won’t happen.”
Former IBF, WBA & WBO Heavyweight Champion Andy Ruiz Jr Reportedly Wanted 18 million USD for the fight with Fury, but that was denied by him. With Ruiz off the field, Fury doesn’t have a lot of options for skirmishes, but maybe that doesn’t matter.
If Fury’s negotiations with Usyk fall apart, Tyson will not fight December in the Middle East unless the Saudis agree to let him fight another British low-level boxer like Derek Chisora or Dillian Whyte .
Zhilei Zhang is not an option for Fury as Joe Joyce activated his rematch clause from their fight last April. Zhang would be a good opponent for Fury to fight in December, but you have to wonder if negotiations with him will fall apart.
