Vermeulen was banned for 6 months by France Galop for allegedly falsifying property records
Coach Fabrice Vermeulen, who finished second in the 2022 French coach title, has been suspended for six months by France Galop for allegedly falsifying ownership records for the 12 horses in his care, Jour de Galop reported on Wednesday. About half of the sentences will be suspended for five years.
An investigation was started after Vermeulen demanded that one of his owners, Laetitia Louis, have not paid the training fee. Much of the record keeping issues related to SAS Le Marais’ involvement are registered to Vermeulen’s assistant, Jeremy Para, who is also a blood agent. That company has now been banned from owning racehorses following a July 2020 investigation by France Galop. France Galop alleges that Vermeulen/Para used a third party to conceal Le Marais’ ownership stake in several horses. Para was banned for a year with six months of suspension.
