Verry Elleegant to Miss Prix Rothschild
Australian super mares Verry Elleegant (NZ) (Zed {NZ}) will miss the G1 Prix Rothschild on Tuesday in Deauville and will instead aim for the 2,000-meter G1 Prix Jean Romanet later in the month.
In a statement on Twitter on Friday morning, her coach Francis Graffard said, “Following her last serious work yesterday, we have decided not to announce Verry Elleegant for the G1 Prix Rothschild on Tuesday, August 2. She told us she needed a little more time and, after discussing it with her owner, we decided that the best thing would be to listen to her. and instead head to the G1 Darley prix Jean Romanet in Deauville on August 21.”
The 6-year-old mare joined Graffard’s stables in Chantilly in May, after being exported from Sydney, where she was trained by Chris Waller to win 11 Group 1 races from one mile to two miles, including the Melbourne Cup and the Caulfield Cup.
