Wake Forest Crushes Boston University and Wins Landing in ACC . Title Game
BOSTON – number 21 Wake Forest won a spot in the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game, received three touchdowns and again on the ground from Sam Hartman to defeat Boston College 41-10 on Saturday.
The Demon Deacons (10-2, 7-1 ACC) will try to win their first league title since 2006 when they face No. 20 Pittsburgh on December 4th.
Hartman ran it from 7 yards midway through the first half and made it 14-0 on a 33-meter pass for AT Perry. It was 17-10 seconds late when Brandon Sebastian tackled Hartman in the final area, but BC went three and then Wake Forest scored on Hartman’s 7-yard pass to Perry just before halftime.
BC (6-6, 26) hit three consecutive trebles – along with an interception – to start the third half, then Wake Forest extended the lead with an on-court goal and a run of 3 yards equals Christian Turner that makes it 34-10.
Hartman completed 20 of 32 passes for 236 yards and ran 11 times for 51 yards. Perry caught four passes that were 81 yards long and two points.
Phil Jurkovic was 3 to 11 of 19 yards for a touchdown and two interceptions and was ahead of the Eagles with 66 yards of charge.
The demon deacons won six consecutive titles of Clemson’s Atlantic Division. They appeared in the ACC championship only once, defeating Georgia Tech in 2006.
The ACC championship match will take place next Saturday in Charlotte.
