Watch Conrad Sangma, Carolling of Opposition Leaders Before Christmas
New Delhi:
It’s that time of year when politics recedes in the northeastern hilly state of Meghalaya. Leaders across parties come together in the spirit of Christmas, put aside year-long differences and revel in the festivities.
This year is no different. Minister Meghalaya Conrad Sangma joined State Opposition Leader and former Minister Mukul Sangma, Metbah Council Chairman Lyngdoh and MLA senior Charles Pyngrope in singing Christmas carols and cheering the festival. The leaders joined Santa when they arrived at Feliz Navidad.
A video of the outdoor event – a pre-Christmas celebration with state ministers and the MLA – shows crowds dancing and clapping as state leaders sing.
“Nice to join the Hon’ble Speaker, Hon’ble Leader of Oppression & Hon’ble MLA singing the Christmas carol at the Pre-Christmas Celebration joined by our colleagues. #Meghalaya Merry Christmas to each and every one of you.” Conrad Sangma wrote while sharing the video on Twitter.

Conrad Sangma recently surprised everyone by performing the evergreen hit “Summer of 69” by Bryan Adams at an event in Itanagar of Arunachal Pradesh. The video has garnered a huge amount of ‘likes’ and ‘retweets’ on Twitter.
Mr. Sangma is known to be musically inclined and is often spotted playing his electric guitar. Last year, he uploaded a video where he put his efforts into playing Iron Maiden’s Wasted Years. The caption reads: “After a hectic 3 days of meetings, chilling out with some stuff in Iron Maiden. I haven’t played in a while, so I guess a few mistakes…”
Meghalaya was recently affected by a political coup that led former Minister Mukul Sangma to walk out of the Congress with 11 MLA and join Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress. Within days, Congress, in an unprecedented move, offered issue-based support to the state’s BJP-Conrad Sangma coalition. Trinamool was quick to call out the Congress move, calling it a “huge betrayal of the opposition”.
