We may officially come out of an extremely busy release season, but the games keep coming out. This week, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga finally launched on Tuesday, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Fast forward to theaters today, Major League Baseball season is officially underway, and Tiger Woods is competing at the PGA Masters a year after a terrible injury. There’s so much to play and see this weekend, and we’d love to know what you’re spending your time on, so let us know your plans in the comments section of this edition. Weekend Warriors!
First, let’s see what Game Informer employees are doing with their upcoming holidays:
Wesley LeBlanc – I’ve started a lot of games but still can’t beat – Horizon Forbidden West, Weird West, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, Gran Turismo 7 and Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Buttttttttttttt last night I started Sonic Generations, a game I’ve never played before but became interested after seeing it rank so high. Our ratings of all the mainstream Sonic gamesand I think I’ll be playing it this weekend because, cool, it’s exactly what I needed after the platinum Elden Ring. Maybe I like Sonic games? Hmmmmm
Kristin Williams – Saturday night should be fun. I’ll be grouping with some friends to play Fall Guys for the first time in a while! Good luck in my quest to earn more crowns. Maybe I’ll play more Kirby and the Forgotten Land, too. So it’s basically a lovely blob videogame weekend.
Alex Stadnik – Defeating the Elden Ring sent me into a strange place. On the one hand, I’m finally free to pursue my other media interests with From’s juggler standing behind me. But on the other hand, I felt almost numb to what was in front of me. I can only imagine this is how Frodo feels after returning to the Shire. I’m excited to continue my co-op ride through Tiny Tina, as I think it’s on track to become my favorite Borderlands game since 2. Outside of the game, I’m looking forward to seeing Everything , Anywhere, Anytime and get back my readings about Project Hail Mary. I’m also gearing up for the Timberwolves’ first playoff game in four years next week, so everyone on Earth, lend me your energy! Go wolf!
Dan Tack – Hunt: Showdown, Final Fantasy XIII, Crystal Project.
Alex Van Aken – It’s been a rough week in my personal life, so I’m looking forward to getting into a few zen games. I will start a new level in Stardew Valley (I never did this past summer) or Final check out Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s Happy Home Paradise DLC. I’ll decorate a house and listen to relaxing music in any game I choose, so I’m happy. Also, I could never too comfortable, so I’ll be crushing ranked matches in Apex Legends as I aim for Diamonds this season.
Margaret Andrews – Started my weekend off with a coffee date with Brian Shea! I finished Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands this week, but I’m happy with the extras; There are many more to choose from. Continuing my tour of the GI folks by playing Fall Guys with Kim and Kristin, and possibly saying hi to Elise Favis. All the remaining time will be spent reading Vampire Empire by Jay Kristof (super cool, super long!).
John Carson – I can’t tell if this weekend will be less busy or super busy. I’m planning on diving into one of the games that Marcus and I will cover in the next installment of Video Gameography, but you’ll have to listen to this week’s episode to find out what that could be. Elden Ring is still working on my backlog, and I hope I’ll be working on that a bit by the end of the week. Sunday, I will gather with a friend and play some good classical paper Magic: Gathering at my local game store (thanks Coffee and Lodestone game). We’re both excited to be playing live again and are adapting some rusty Commander decks to battle some other random cardboard charmers. Oh, and I’ve leveled up a Demon Hunter in World of Warcraft before going to bed every night this week, so it might as well happen.
