Weird: Hair Belts for Street Vendors for Cotton Candy, “Baal Ke Badle Baal”
Before the internet, we barely knew what was going on in the world. But now, thanks to the development of technology, we have been exposed to all kinds of information. From the weird to the creative, one can find almost anything on the internet. Today, we discovered a strange food business that confused us. A street vendor has started a unique food business, where he accepts hairdressing as a form of payment for cotton candy. Yes, you heard it right! It sounds weird but it’s the truth. His concept was “baal ke badle baal” (hair in exchange for cotton candy), using a pun on the Hindi word for hair i.e. baal, and the Hindi word for cotton candy i.e. budhiya ke baal. Watch:
The hair in the exchange can be any hair type, whether it’s hair that’s naturally shed from your head or hair that’s been cut. The man decides how much cotton candy a person gets, depending on how much hair one has exchanged for it. The salesman then sold all of the hair he collected and used the proceeds from the sale to support his cotton candy business. The vendor sells a kilo of hair for INR 3000. The hair is then used to make wigs. The man has been using this barter system to run his business for 4-5 years now. The video was uploaded by food vlogger ‘Foody Vishal’ on YouTube and so far the video has 48k views and 2.2k likes.
