WhatsApp updates voice messages with non-chat playback, the ability to receive messages where you left off
WhatsApp on Wednesday announced a series of updates to voice messages to make it easier for people to communicate with their contacts on the platform with voice notes. Updates that include features like the ability to pause and resume voice message recording, waveform display, non-chat playback, and draft preview are already available to some users. WhatsApp also introduces a memo playback feature that quickly replays forwarded voice messages. In addition to feature updates, WhatsApp announced that its users send an average of seven billion voice messages per day.
One of the most useful additions WhatsApp brought in as part of its voice message-focused updates is an off-the-shelf chat replay feature. It allows you to listen to your voice messages outside of the chat so you can multitask or read and reply to other chats on the app simultaneously. However, your active voice messages won’t run in the background if you leave WhatsApp or switch to another app.

WhatsApp has also brought back memo playback to let you pick up your voice messages from where you left off when returning to a specific conversation after pausing them.
There is also support for fast playback of forwarded messages to allow you to play voice messages at 1.5x or 2x speed for faster message hearing in case of forwarded messages.
