However, in recent years, the simple, seemingly uncontrollable concept has somehow been transformed into something else – specifically anything that a manufacturer’s marketing department cannot control. You want it to make sense. For the right price, we can now buy and play certain games that publishers tell us – frankly, nothing less – won’t have their “one day” for a few days. another day. This jaunt with the release date, which has long been a gamer’s holiday, we’re excited about and look forward to as our first chance to play a long-awaited, iconic game. manipulation and – in some cases – outright fraud.
Just to be clear, I don’t have much of a problem with releasing a bundled version of the game for a higher price before offering a cheaper standalone version. For example, to this day EA claims FIFA 23 wasn’t released until September 29th…unless you “pre-order” the $150 Ultimate edition, in which case you have full access to all its contents three days earlier. The argument that publishers rely on here is this version of a game – the standard retail version does not come with any DLC or other rewards – that has never been released before its own, and so this is the first date for that particular edition. I think most people would agree that while that haircut logic might please a judge in a false advertising case, it’s pretty obnoxious and obviously unnecessary for anyone. Anyone who just wants to play a game they enjoy as soon as possible.
To make matters worse, things only get more confusing. When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s release date? If you go to Activision’s website, it will tell you it’s out on October 28.
