Who is Twitter’s new CEO, Parag Agrawal?
Twitter on Monday promoted company insider and chief technology officer Parag Agrawal to replace CEO Jack Dorsey. The social media platform joins tech giants Apple, Amazon and Alphabet in attracting a company insider to land the top job.
Here are some facts about Agrawal:
Decade with Twitter
Agrawal participated Twitter is a software engineer and has been with the company for over a decade. He was appointed as Chief Technology Officer in October 2017.
He oversees Twitter’s engineering strategy and is responsible for improving software development speed and driving machine learning adoption across the company.
Project Bluesky
Since December 2019, Agrawal has also worked on Project Bluesky, an independent team of architects, engineers and open source designers to combat abusive and misleading information on the web. Twitter.
Bluesky is looking to introduce a new decentralized technology, the idea being that Twitter and others will become Bluesky customers and rebuild their platform to the standard, Dorsey previously said.
Former employee of Microsoft, Yahoo
Before joining Twitter, Agrawal worked at Microsoft, Yahoo!, and AT&T Labs in their research unit, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Graduated from Stanford
Agrawal holds a PhD in computer science from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
