Why isn't Tori Spelling “embarrassed” about using Ozempic to lose weight?
Ozempic is not funny for comedians. Handler revealed that the “anti-aging doctor” prescribed her medication without knowing what it was.
“I didn't even know I was in it,” she said in the January 25, 2023 episode Call her dad. “She said, 'If you want to lose five pounds, this is fine.'”
But while trying the drug, Handler noted that she didn't like the way it made her feel.
“I came back from vacation and I had it injected into me,” she recalls. “I went to lunch with a girlfriend a few days later and she said, 'I literally didn't eat anything. I'm so nauseous, I'm taking Ozempic.' And I thought, 'I feel nauseous too.' But I just came back from Spain and got jetlagged.”
Handler eventually stopped taking the drug because it was not medically necessary for her, adding that she donated the remaining doses to friends.
“I gave Ozempic to about four or five of my friends because I realized I didn't want to use it because it was silly,” she said. “It's for heavy people. I have people come to my house and I say, 'Okay, I can see you at 1 o'clock, I can see you at 2 o'clock.'”
