Williams upgraded Nicholas Latifi’s car to match teammate Alex Albon
Nicholas Latifi will get the same performance upgrades on his car as his Formula 1 teammate Alex Albon at this weekend’s French Grand Prix.
On Tuesday, the team said they already have the parts for both cars after Albon tested them in the UK and Austria.
“While the weather in Silverstone and the Sprint format in Austria weren’t ideal for testing, we’ve seen enough encouraging feedback to be confident we’ve taken it a step further,” said Dave Robson, division head vehicle operator said.
“With the weather likely to be warm, dry and stable this weekend, we’ll be looking at using Friday’s activity to get Nicky up to speed with the new parts and also to continue learning how to get the best out of the new package’s performance.”
Williams is last in the assists standings with three points, all scored by Albon.
Canadian Latifi, whose place on the team after this season is uncertain, is the only driver on the grid yet to score with a 22-race championship now entering the second half at Le Castellet.
“We’ve seen some positive signs from it [the upgrade package] on Alex’s car so far, so I’m looking forward to tasting it for the first time,” Latifi said.
“Hopefully it can give us a bit of the relative speed we’ve been missing and get us into the fight more.”
