X-ray of Julio Rodriguez’s arm came back negative, but Seattle Mariners OF is on the injured list
X-rays are taken on Julio Rodriguezright hand of is negative, but Seattle Mariners The rookie midfielder was included on the 10-day injury list on Sunday.
“The X-ray came back negative, but he’s really in pain. I think everyone agrees he won’t have a bat in his hand for five days at the earliest – just let that settle down.” , manager Scott Servais said Sunday. “I think everyone knows, your wrists, your hands, how sensitive that area is when you have to hit the ball. Do it right, make sure he’s completely healthy when he comes back.”
Servais said Rodriguez has yet to undergo an MRI but “maybe there will be some more pictures of it.”
Rodriguez said Sunday he was grateful his hand was not broken and said it “had to feel fine” before he could return.
“I just have to feel that it’s right, that the swelling will go down, and that everything has to feel okay,” he says. “I feel like it’s coming very soon, but we just want to be careful and make sure I’m taking enough time to get to 100% and not have to deal with that for the rest of the season.
Rodriguez was hit on the back of his hand as he swung in a field at the top of the eighth inning Saturday night in the Mariners’ Win 5-4 via Houston Astros. He played on the field in the second half of the inning before being lifted up in the ninth.
Midfielder Dylan Moore, who left Saturday’s game with back spasms, was also classified as a 10-day IL. Midfielders Jarred Kelenic and Jack Larsen have been recalled from the minors in the respective moves.
The Mariners also don’t have a leader Ty France on Sunday after he had an MRI of his sore left wrist. Servais said they have not received the results before the game and hope France will be ready to return after a day or two rest.
Woman Sam Haggerty was not in the squad on Sunday after having stitches on his eye. He was injured after being hit in the forehead by his thrown helmet after failing in the ninth inning and tossing the wheel in frustration. The helmet bounced back and hit him on the head. Servais says he is doing well and will be on the bench.
The Mariners also appointed left-hander Anthony Misiewicz for Sunday’s duty.
Abraham Toro pinned the hit for Rodriguez on Saturday ninth and delivered a two-goal single with two moves ahead of the Astros closer Ryan Pressly to help bring the Mariners to victory.
Rodriguez drew 0 to 4 with three attacks in Saturday night’s game and is beating .271 with 18 own goals and 57 RBIs.
The Mariners, in second place in the American League West standings, currently occupy the AL’s second.
