Xbox chief plans to continue Call of Duty on PlayStation after Microsoft acquires Activision Blizzard
Microsoft recently announced that it will acquire Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion (approximately Rs 5,10,990). The wheels have already kicked in and the deal is expected to close in fiscal year 2023. Activision Blizzard currently has popular titles like World of Warcraft, Diablo, and Overwatch. One of its most notable franchises, however, is Call of Duty. This acquisition has cast some cloud over the cross-platform nature of the Call of Duty game. Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, mentioned in a recent tweet that they were in talks with leaders at Sony to address these concerns.

He mentioned that Sony PlayStation will continue to receive Call of Duty game, at the moment. Similar concerns arose when Microsoft buying Zenimax Media in September 2021. Zenimax Media is the parent company of Bethesda known for titles like Dishonored, Doom, Fallout and Elder Scrolls. At that time, Microsoft chose to honor existing agreements regarding Deathloop debuted as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
Buying Activision Blizzard also hints at Microsoft’s desire to dominate the mobile game space. Activision now owns the mobile game studio King, the developer of the Candy Crush game. Activision was also able to successfully launch Call of Duty: Mobile for Android and iOS.
Recently report has suggested that Microsoft plans to include as many Activision games as possible Xbox Game Pass registration service. Also, there is the possibility of turning some of these games into Microsoft exclusives. However, PlayStation Fans of revered titles like Elder Scrolls and Call of Duty may have to buy one Xbox consoles to play future titles from their favorite franchises as these deals run their way.
