Yearender 2021: Fashion trends we want to eliminate and apply in 2022
This year has gone down and up from one of the worst lockdowns to date in a second wave to a slow return to a ‘new normal’ amid the fresh air Omicron variant.
And fashion, too, saw the ups and downs of trending styles this year, starting with our trusty pajamas and ending with lehengas in a series celebrity wedding, physical Red carpet and events in which celebrities have brought back OTT outfits again. While some trends failed, a few have captured our hearts that we’d love to see more of in 2022.
Exile: OTT lehengas
Don’t misunderstand us. We love a Malhotra Manish or a Sabyasachi lehenga moment. But lately, there have been too many flashy forms of OTT, in your eyes lehengas apart from celebrity weddings, red carpets and promotional events, it’s all done-there-see-it. We’d love to see our favorite Bollywood divas experiment with their style and step out of the comfort zone of the theater room. lehengas.
Adopt: Dopamine clothes
Neutrals and all blacks will always be classics, but for 2022 we wanted a more upbeat and colorful spirit with similarly reflective outfits. Also Deepika Padukone, whose commendable fashion sense has grown over the past year, has used colors in her wardrobe, including vibrant ones, and experimenting with color palettes. The only rule is to have fun and dress to show off
Exile: Luxury sports/sportswear
Sportswear and athletic wear outside the gym, basketball and tennis courts, and Pilates studio seem to have taken over our wardrobes (and social media feeds) in batch lock this year. And while the look of Lady Diana’s cycling shorts will always be a favorite, maybe it’s time to give it a break and again for cuddly pants and a satin shirt your splendor.
Adopt: Long pants / powersuits
Tights in every color, fit and fabric are welcome in 2022. It’s the easiest way to power up a garment minus the risk of overdoing it. Pair it with a t-shirt, a crop top, tank top or a cardigan like Athiya Shetty depending on whether you want it to look more casual or dressier.
Exile: Y2K fashion
Waves of Y2K fashion have been felt across the global fashion industry as the style, popularized by celebrities like Paris Hilton and Christina Aguilera, has returned with a huge hit. And we believe that by 2022, the trend of crop tops, low-rise mini skirts, hair accessories and the like will decrease.
Adopt: Sustainability
While sustainability in fashion has long been one of the most debated, coveted and exploited terms, we’d love to see more claims and bold sustainable fashion choices. of our screen celebrities, like Taapsee Pannu wore this brocade gown by designer Ashwin Thiyagarajan. We’d also like to see more small-scale, local, responsible brands from India instead of the full presence of international designers and brands.
Exile: Unbelievably long nails
Fingernails as long as fingers have appeared for more than a moment in 2021, with a strange thing Cut the nail one style trend after another. By 2022, we want to see this predatory manicure replaced with chic French piercings, creative manicures, and maybe even a return to short nails, no paint?
Adopt: Statement accessories
Zoom’s annual meetings have taught us the art of accessories as a safe way to look dressed, even in your pajamas. And with the emerging accessory trend around the world, in which fashion enthusiasts are seen sporting with eye-catching accessories, culminating in Bella Hadid’s golden lung at Cannes 2021.
