Your guide to skin care trends
Georgie Edwards, head of skin care treatments at Silk Laser Clinics, said: “Interest in microneedling is growing due to its ability to stimulate collagen production and improve overall skin health. body”.
Who is Microneedling for?
“While injections remain popular for targeting specific concerns such as wrinkles and volume loss, microneedling is popular for its versatility and results for all ages. ”
“Many people are looking for results-oriented treatments with minimal recovery time, and microneedling fits the bill well.”
The promise of minimal downtime gives hope to my red-faced face that shows signs of stopping, but most people focus on the long-term benefits and claims of firmer skin and Faded appearance of wrinkles and acne.
“Have scientific evidence to support the benefits of skin microneedling to stimulate new collagen production and regenerate old collagen,” said Dr Leona Yip, consultant dermatologist from Skin Partners, Brisbane.
“This can lead to skin tightening, pore reduction, and scar remodeling.”
Part of Appel's motivation for launching Skin Bar was the success she had in treating cystic acne.

“I would hide behind makeup,” Appel said. “I tried many things but for me, needling was the best result.”
Many clinics claim to be able to help treat acne scars in addition to reducing volume and wrinkles, but Yip warns that results may vary.
“Some cases of mild acne scarring improve after a series of microneedling treatments, but often do not disappear completely,” says Yip. “Many cases of more extensive or severe acne scarring require more advanced combination treatments (usually performed by a dermatologist) using microneedling, lasers, chemical peels, injections and various surgical techniques over many months to see improvement.”
The treatment of pigmentation also needs to be approached carefully.
“Most cases of hyperpigmentation require an accurate diagnosis by a dermatologist before a diagnosis-specific treatment plan can be planned, which may be prescription or laser,” says Yip.
Is microneedling painful?
Another aspect worth discussing is pain. I have undergone Botox and laser rejuvenation treatments and the pain level is comparable. I was also slapped and punched in the face. My RF microneedle treatment using radiofrequency falls somewhere in the middle.
“It goes a little deeper,” Appel says, with some RF needles able to penetrate as deep as 3.5 millimeters. “We create a safe space for our customers and help them overcome any discomfort they may be experiencing. Most people have done their research and are prepared for that feeling.”
Nearly 20 hours after treatment, the redness has subsided and I can have a smart lunch without having to endure Samantha Jones comparisons.

A few weeks later, my skin looked healthier, firmer and my jawline looked more like my jawline. Initially, when the doctor suggested coming back in six weeks, I winced and got even redder, but I was planning on getting the needle again.
“It's like a gym for your skin,” says Appel. “Unlike some people who are addicted to injectables, hopefully you won't have to think about enhancing fillers, numbing new parts or using threading.”
