$12K TERF Award to Cornell’s College of Veterinary Medicine
Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation (TERF) is pleased to award $12,000 to the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine for educational use.
The mission of the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine is to advance veterinary medicine at the discovery and application interface. They advance research at the molecular, cellular, organismal and population levels to better inform medical practice, public health, and policy. Cornell is dedicated to research excellence, educational programs, and professional service, and seeks to advance understanding of the health of both animals and humans, fostering open collaboration between industry and institutional boundaries, and integrate discovery with application.
In the past, TERF has generously awarded need-based scholarship grants to students interested in pursuing equine medicine. In line with its mission to support and promote equine education by supporting organizations that are educating the public on how to properly care for horses, TERF will continue to provide their financial support into 2022. This year’s scholarship recipients are Brooke Schiltz and Kaitlin Dullea. Brooke hopes to enter racing practice in Florida, and Kaitlin hopes to begin practicing equine medicine upon graduation, with the goal of pursuing a surgical residency.
Sheila Reaches, Director of Annual Donations at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, said: “Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine is grateful for the support TERF is providing its students, especially those intends to pursue equine medicine. The school is embarking on a concerted effort to help students reduce their debt-to-salary ratios and generous scholarships like these can make a big difference in lives of recent graduates.”
