2023 Porsche 911 Dakar scouting at Nurburgring
PorscheThe high-riding 911 variant, possibly bearing the Dakar name, has been tracked down again but it remains unclear when it will eventually be revealed.
Dakar prototypes have been tracked in the same all-black camouflage for over two years now.
This particular archetype, scouted at the Nurburgring, seems to be largely similar to previous spy version with 911 GT3-style nostrils on the front trunk.
There also appears to be some wheel arch panels and a 911 Turbo-style spoiler at the rear.
Our scouting photographers recorded the 911 Dakar prototype doing two laps of track testing in the Green Hell and found the ride height in one session to be higher than the other. It is most visible when looking at the wheel arches.
This is towards the car receiving some form of air suspension that allows it to raise and lower.
It is not clear what will power the 911 Dakar, but it is likely that it will feature all-wheel drive due to its focus on terrain.
While the new luxury 911 may be the first of its kind since the 1978 911 SC Safari, Porsche has tried to revive the idea before that.
By the end of 2020, automakers released a series of detailed photos of 15 concept models it has been in development but has never been publicly revealed before, one of which is 911 Safari.
Lamborghini is also preparing to reveal a premium version of Huracan supercar before the end of the year.
Called Huracan SterratoThis Lamborghini is inspired by the wild 2019 Steratto concept and will be The “final” variant in the Huracan V10 series starting in 2014.
