2025 Chery Omoda 7: New mid-sized SUV revealed
Chery is expanding its Omoda sub-brand, with a new model to be unveiled at this week's Beijing auto show.
The Chery Omoda 7 will be placed above the existing location Omoda 5and the Chinese automaker has released a single teaser image ahead of its reveal on April 28.
The image shows the car's side profile, featuring unusual front lighting details and lightning bolt taillight graphics.
There is also similar C/D column treatment for both Chery Omoda 5 and Tiggo 7 Pro with a “floating” roof treatment and a sharp point at the belt line.
Chery has not yet revealed the dimensions, but the Omoda 7 will almost certainly be larger than the Omoda 5 with a length of 4400mm, width of 1830mm, height of 1588mm and a wheelbase of 2630mm.
The automaker counts Omoda as a sub-brand in some markets – such as joining the Arrizo sedan line in China and the Tiggo SUV line in both China and Australia – and its own brand in other markets. markets like Europe and South Africa.
In some markets, Chery will sell the RX from the more premium Exeed brand as Omoda 9.
The Exeed RX/Omoda 9 measures 4781 mm long, 1920 mm wide and 1671 mm high on a 2815 mm wheelbase, or 34 mm shorter, 20 mm wider and 24 mm lower than a conventional car. Kia Sorento on the same wheelbase.
That shows the Omoda 7 is close to medium size Toyota RAV4or Chery's Tiggo 7 Pro.
Chery hasn't confirmed a local launch date for the Omoda 7, but it will soon offer a total of three mid-size SUVs in Australia even if it doesn't sell it.
There will be a seven-seat Tiggo 8 Pro due in May, along with sub-brand Jaecoo's mid-size J7 due in the second half of 2024.
The former rivals the likes of Mitsubishi Outlanderwhile the latter is advertised as “offering a higher-end product… aimed at more adventure-focused consumers.”
However, Jaecoo J7 is sold as Chery in China.
