40K Game Developers Criticized For Ridiculous Twitch Drops
Complex game, developer of new game Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhuntersissued a statement disappointed player after running a campaign where certain in-game items were only available to those who watched certain Twitch streams.
Via PC Gamerswhile Complex probably thinks they’re running a pretty standard (a 2022 standard anyway) which advertises the release window, the nature of the entries and the fan base/platform in question are both without it. This is an example The result was a negative review left on the game’s Steam page, one of many that presumably led to the statement:
The game will be supported by many but one thing. The developers for some ridiculous reason decided to put 11 ingame items (not skins or cosmetics but actual weapons and armor) behind the twitch drops on release day. To get these items, you not only have to create and link a Frontier account and a Twitch account, but you also have to watch for hours and hours of twitch broadcasters attacking instead of actually playing the game you played. pay. They are also timed so that if you miss them, you will remember them forever.
If there was another way to get these it wouldn’t be a big deal but I wouldn’t watch ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Angry Joe for 2 hours just to get weapons.
The actual Angry Joe stream is only 45 minutes, but their point still stands. The items aren’t anything fancy or game-breaking, most of them are very small variations on early game weapons and armor that you’ll move through in a few hours, but that’s it. The spirit of the move—and it’s up to the player’s timing if they want to try everything the game has to offer—that upset people as well as its practical consequences.
The result is, Complex said that every item offered in the streams will now be given away for free to all players later this month.
The commanders of the Ave Imperator force,
We’re glad to see so many of you love Warhammer 40000 Chaos Gate: Daemonhunters. While we’re happy to see you enjoy the game, we’re also listening to your feedback.
One of the aspects that we noticed was the frustration surrounding the various Twitch drop campaigns we ran around the launch of the game. While the sole goal of these campaigns is to raise awareness, we understand that many people feel in-game items are locked to them.
This was definitely not our intention and we appreciate you sharing your thoughts on this. As a result, we’ll be making all items from every Twitch drop campaign available to players via one of our planned updates in May. We’ll confirm which update and date. exactly when this is completed.
We hope this resolves your frustration and you can continue to destroy the forces of Chaos with these items in your Armory.
If you haven’t even heard of Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunterslet alone play it, I’ll assume it’s because it’s the worst name ever and that the thought of another Warhammer the game made your eyeballs go back to your skull.
The problem is…this game is really good, and very XCOMso for anyone who’s noticed it but is currently gearing up to come back with this reveal, I’ll be sharing some impressions of it over the weekend.
