Viral Now: Pakistani Minister Says Garlic Is Adrak, Cracks Up Twitter
Garlic, ginger, onion and tomato are some of the main ingredients of South Asian dishes. Although professional chefs are already extremely familiar with their usage and nomenclature, other novice chefs can get confused between them. In a video that recently surfaced on social media, a Pakistani minister caught a stupid name. The minister was trying to recall the Hindi name for garlic, and instead of saying ‘Lehsun’ he said, “Garlic is Adrak”. Twitter users were divided after seeing the hilarious fake pas quickly go viral on the microblogging platform. Watch:

The clip was posted on Twitter by user @nailainayat, where it has garnered more than 260k views and thousands of likes. “Garlic is adrak,” said Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry. One learns one new thing every day,” the user wrote in her tweet.
The 22-second video is from a press conference discussing the increase in vegetable and ingredient prices. Pakistan’s Minister of Information and Communications, Fawad Chaudhry, appeared in the video and it is clear that he is making a proposal to reduce the prices of these vegetables. After trying to remember the hindi term for garlic, he was reminded by others that it was called ‘Lehsun’. However, he suddenly stepped back and said, “No no, garlic is adrak.”
The humorous clip certainly broke Twitter and divided users. While some may relate to the Pakistani Minister’s confusion and call it an honest mistake, others simply laugh. Take a look at the reactions:
