Travis Scott denies knowing about Astroworld’s injury in interview with Charlamagne tha God
This is Scott’s first extensive interview since the tragedy, and he begins to talk about how hard it all is because he “feels so connected” to his fans.
“It really hurt,” he said. “It hurts the community, it hurts the city [Houston where he is from and where the annual festival was held]. It was a lot of emotion, a lot of grief. “
Scott initially denied knowing concertgoers had been injured, saying he “didn’t know the exact details until a few minutes before the press conference,” after he performed.
“People faint, things happen at concerts, but something like that,” he said, finishing.
According to Scott, his vision from the stage when he was performing was limited, but from what he saw, he acted.
“Anytime I could see anything like that, I did,” Scott said. “I stopped it a few times to make sure everyone was okay.”
He also mentioned the “rage” culture for which his concerts have been known and which some have blamed for the deaths and injuries.
Scott says “rage” is “to give and have fun.”
“As an artist, you trust professionals when things go wrong people can leave safely,” Scott added.
“And this night was like a regular show, for me it was like a source of energy,” he said. “People don’t show up there just to be harmful. People come in to have a good time and something unfortunate happened and we just had to find out what it was.”
