Edmonton Oilers blanked by Quick and Kings 4-0 in game 4 – Edmonton
Jonathan Quick made 31 saves as the Los Angeles Kings beat Edmonton Oilers 4-0 Sunday night.
The best match of 7 draws with a score of 2-2. Game five will be on Tuesday at Rogers Place (630 CHED, Face-off Show 6pm, game 8pm).
The Kings took the lead in the eighth minute of the game. Phillip Danault headed the net and passed it to Trevor Moore, who flipped in the second game of the series. Six minutes later, Troy Stecher’s shot hit Duncan Keith’s post to make it 2-0 for the Kings.
The Oilers have the game’s first power play in the second period, but the kings have the best chance. Phillip Danault took the shot off Tyson Barrie on the blue line and went in alone. Mike Smith has come up with a way to save. At the end of the second, Kailer Yamamoto’s shot flew over Quick’s shoulder and hit the crossbar. Seconds later, Quick made a brilliant save against Evander Kane. Quick causes both of them to stop walking despite losing their gloves in the play.
Five minutes to go, Carl Grundstrom drives into the net on the right. He was knocked down by Darnell Nurse and headbutted Smith, forcing him to dash over the line in the process. The Oilers defied the keeper’s intervention, but the goal still stood. Grundstrom added an empty grid.
Smith finished with 42 saves. Both teams have a 0/3 handicap on power play.
