Jaron Ennis On Errol Spence: “That IBF Belt Coming Home Soon”
Via Chris Williams: Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis says Errol Spence Jr’s IBF welterweight belly “will be coming home soon.” With Boots Ennis coming to claim Spence’s IBF belt, he’ll either have to fight him or give up the belt.
To be sure, it would look bad for Spence if he vacated the belt instead of fighting Ennis, but that seems like the direction he’s going to take.
Boots’ team has petitioned the IBF to have them order Spence to protect him next, and we should be able to get a response from them soon.
That IBF title now seems like a hot potato to Spence as it will burn him if he is forced to fight his IBF mandatory Ennis.
Boots (29-0.27 KOs) says he wants to take the 147-lb IBF belt from undefeated Spence (28-0.22 KOs) and he hopes he gets a chance to fight him before he moves on. to rank 154.
Spence is talking about gaining weight after Terence Crawford bailed out negotiations for an undisputed clash in the welterweight division.
Errol doesn’t want to continue because he can hardly increase the weight for the 147 lb limit, and he will have to defend against Boots.
Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis said to YSM Sports Media about Errol Spence Jr.’s 147-lb IBF title. “You know, IBF belts will soon return home, whether they like it or not.
“It doesn’t matter who it is. I really enjoyed fighting Errol Spence. He’s a great name, a great fighter. Who wouldn’t want to be such a great boxer and take his belt and show it to the world? He really is the real deal.
“That’s what I want to do. Take the belt from him, but if he leaves the belt and I have to fight someone else, it doesn’t really matter. I just want to get my shot and get the world title. Collect all the belts and then go to 154.
“It is not low risk, high reward. I feel like they’re using that as an excuse. The money is there; everything is there. I feel like low risk, high reward is an excuse.
“In my next performance, you can expect me to do my thing as always. What I’m doing, I’m doing a lot of defensive work, improving. They will watch some when the time comes.
“I don’t see it as a duck, but the media and the Internet might see it as a duck,” Boots Ennis said when asked if he would have seen Spence condescending if he had never been shot at him. ta when he holds IBF Title.
“Anyway, it doesn’t really matter to me. I just want to be great and be world champion and take over the boxing game and the heavyweight division and will do it next week.
“It doesn’t matter who I am, they put in front of me. It could be a brick wall. I’ll knock it down, knock it down,” Ennis said.
