Alex Albon returns home after complications from appendicitis surgery
Alex Albon has been discharged and returned home after he developed respiratory failure following complications from Saturday’s appendectomy.
Albon missed the Italian Grand Prix last weekend after falling ill with appendicitis. Following Saturday’s surgery, the Thai driver experienced “unexpected complications following anesthesia surgery”, including respiratory failure, and was taken to intensive care at Monza’s Ospedale San Gerardo.
By Sunday he was in intensive care and on Tuesday he was discharged before returning home to Monaco to continue his recovery.
Albon is planning a race in the next round of the championship in Singapore on October 2.
Dutch driver Nyck de Vries sided with Albon at the Monza race, finishing ninth.
