American Indian Puneet Talwar Appointed New US Ambassador to Morocco

US President Joe Biden on Friday announced Indian-American Puneet Talwar for Ambassador to Morocco as part of several key nominations for his administration, a White House press release said.
Other nominees include Candace Bond as Ambassador to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Timmy Davis as Ambassador to Qatar, Nasser Paydar as Assistant Secretary for Post-Secondary Education, Ministry of Education education and Michael Lombardo is a Member of the National Council for the Arts.
Puneet Talwar has held senior national security and foreign policy positions at the State Department, the White House, and the United States Senate. He is currently a Senior Advisor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Previously, he served as Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director at the National Security Council, and Senior Expert Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs. Foreign Affairs of the United States Senate.
Mr. Talwar’s public service also includes important roles in the United States House of Representatives and State Department Policymaking Officer.
Outside of government, he has served as a Senior Fellow at the Asian Institute for Social Policy, Visiting Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Biden Center, Conflict Resolution Advisor, Inter Mediate NGO and Non-Resident Scholar at the Georgetown University Center for Security Studies.
Mr. Talwar holds a Bachelor of Engineering from Cornell University and a Master’s degree in International Affairs from Columbia University. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and is a native of Washington, DC.
