Barcelona’s Sergio Aguero holds press conference to explain future
Sergio Aguero will hold a press conference on Wednesday to explain his future as he battles heart disease.
Many reports suggest that Aguero, who joined Barca from City of Manchester on a free transfer in the summer, will confirm his retirement.
Barca president Joan Laporta will appear with Argentina striker at the event to be held at Camp Nou.
Aguero, 33, made five appearances for Barca this season before being forced off in a draw with Alaves in October after suffering chest pain.
After the tests, it was announced that the discomfort was due to an arrhythmia – a broad term to describe any heart rhythm that is not completely normal – will need treatment for a period of three months
That three-month period runs until the end of January, but there has been much speculation in recent weeks that Aguero will have to retire.
Sources previously told ESPN in November that the forward would follow instructions from doctors and Don’t be in a hurry to make decisions about your future.
Aguero broke up the match against Independiente in his hometown before joining Atlético Madrid. He then spent a decade with City, becoming the English club’s all-time leading goalscorer, before signing for Barca when his contract expired last June.
