The internet is a great place to be, especially for those just starting out in cooking. There are tons of quick and easy DIY tricks and tips that can make cooking a hassle-free experience. However, not everything you see on the internet can be simulated in real life. A case in point is the recent video of a blogger who decided that a tumble dryer could be a great device for making homemade cotton candy! Believe it or not, but this blogger actually documented the entire process of using a dryer to make cotton candy. Check out the video that was shared on Reddit:

User u/stuarty shared the video in sub-reddit r/stupidFood, where it went viral quickly receiving over 13.6k upvotes. “I’m speechless,” the user wrote in the video’s caption. The original clip was shared by blogger Tammy Louise on TikTok.
In the nearly 3-minute clip, Louise explains how to use a dryer to make homemade cotton candy. First she put multiple lines into the front loader drum. Then, instead of using liquid laundry detergent, she put a can of blueberry soda in the drawer of the dryer. She then explains that the cotton candy will be ready in minutes and will settle in the dryer vent.
Many people call this the fake homemade cotton candy experiment. Several others expressed their concerns about the hygiene of the dryer and how it might not work after this weird cooking experiment. Some people also point out that the heat in the dryer won’t be enough to form cotton candy in the first place.
