BMW car is keeping the wagon body style alive for its next generation 5 Linesand even looks to give it an electric powertrain.

There’s still a lot of detail hidden by the camouflage on both of these spotted i5 Touring prototypes, but chances are we’ll see some more soon.

It’s not yet clear what kind of electric powertrain setup the BMW i5 M60 Touring and i5 40 Touring will get, but they could be identical to the ones in iX SUVs.
BMW iX xDrive40 is equipped with a dual-motor 4-wheel drive system with a capacity of 240 kW and 630 Nm of torque. It is said to be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds.
The iX M60 is also equipped with two-motor four-wheel drive, but produces 455kW of power and 1100Nm of torque. It is said to be capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.
As previously reported, the next-generation BMW 5 Series will be offered with a range of internal combustion and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains.
While the i5 sedan will give BMW a direct rival to cars like the Mercedes-Benz EQE and the upcoming Audi A6 e-tronnext generation M5 It is not expected to run entirely on electricity.
It is expected to borrow the PHEV powertrain from the recently revealed version XM SUV, including a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with 360kW/650Nm, a 145kW/280Nm electric motor and a 25.7kWh battery pack. The total output power of the system is 480kW of power and 800Nm of torque.
