‘Boots, don’t sleep with him helluva boxer’ Boxing News 24
Via Chris Williams: Floyd Mayweather Jr hails undefeated welterweight contender Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis as a fighter he greatly admires.
24-year-old Boots Ennis (28-0.26 KOs) is rapidly moving up the ranks at 147 and he has named champions Errol Spence Jr., Terence Crawford and Yordenis Ugas.
34-year-old Crawford will soon face WBO 5th place contender Ennis as he will soon become his must-have opponent.
Floyd spoke about Canelo Alvarez on Thursday as the media and boxing fans talked a lot about Canelo Alvarez but failed to mention Boots Ennis, whom he feels deserves the attention.
Many casual fans are still unaware of Boots Ennis, 24, as he hasn’t been given a chance to make it to the main event, but he will soon.
“I’m going to record and say that young Jaron Ennis, ‘Boots’, Don’t sleep with him. Don’t sleep with him, helluva boxer,” Mayweather said.
Ennis massacred Thomas Dulorme in the first knockout on October 30 in a fight that shocked fans because it was this guy that Crawford struggled with in 2015 and Yordenis Ugas in 2017.
Jaron Ennis beats Crawford says Fulton
“That’s right,” WBC super bantamweight champion Stephen Fulton said Fighthype when asked if Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis would defeat Terence Crawford.
“I feel like I’ve been around and seen him [Ennis] Train and his reflexes, punch output, stamina. You don’t even see the guy sitting down in the corner. He is young and hungry.
“They wouldn’t give him a chance and I understand why,” Fulton said of Ennis not being sent into a fight by Crawford.
“I understand because if it were me, would I give him a chance? I would have because that’s who I am, but I don’t know,” Fulton said as he expressed doubt that Terence would hand Boots Ennis a title.
“His [Ennis] defense will be on point. Sometimes his defense is so good, he will get there faster than the opponent and can get caught with something stupid.
“He’ll definitely see it and try to get out of the way, but he’s in such great shape that he’ll get there faster than the opponent that’s throwing that punch,” Fulton said of Boots Ennis.
“He is the youngest, the hungriest, the healthier. When we talk about resumes, you have to give it to others. You cannot ignore them. They are world champions, but he [Ennis] definitely ready to prove that he is one of the best in the world.
“Yes, we had a fight recently,” Fulton said of him and Boots Ennis. “It is the onslaught of technology.
“It is always a good job. We’re not trying to knock each other down, we’re always working to work things out. Me and him are very competitive,” Fulton said of the match against Jaron Ennis.
