Brady Tkachuk, Cole Caufield top Team USA roster for 2024 men's world championships
The first 15 players who will represent USA Hockey for the upcoming IIHF men's world championship were revealed Wednesday.
Typical of the players selected so far are Montreal Canadiens forward Cole Caufield, Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk and teammate Shane Pinto, who will join forwards Matt Boldy, Joel Farabee, Johnny Gaudreau, Luke Kunin, Dylan Larkin and Trevor Zegras, defenders Luke Hughes, Seth Jones, Jake Sanderson, Alex Vlasic and Zach Werenski and goalkeeper Alex Lyon.
“We got our roster off to an excellent start,” said team general manager Brett Peterson. “Our players are excited and everyone is looking forward to representing our country at the world championship.”
Beginning May 5, Team USA will practice in Bratislava, Slovakia. They will play a pre-tournament match against Slovakia on May 7 before opening against Sweden on May 10 in Ostrava, Czechia, at 8:20pm local time/2:20pm ET.
In the last 10 tournaments, the United States has placed in the top 4 7 times and won 4 bronze medals.
