David Morrell says a fight against David Benavidez could happen in November

Another fight that could happen a few months later is a battle between two David’s, Benavidez and Morrell. Both men themselves were involved in landing the fight with Canelo but now they must look elsewhere. In a perfect world, it would make perfect sense for the undefeated talents, promoted by PBC, to go head-to-head, and the winner is getting closer to facing Canelo or indeed Charlo.
Benavidez promoter Sampson Lewkowicz recently revealed that Morrell will be next. for his fighter only to have it rejected by his client.
Morrell used social media tactics to try to get Benavidez to confront him. The Cuban is clearly focused on the fight against the 26-year-old and says Fox9 News He is ready for the challenge.
“I want to fight Benavidez, one hundred percent,” Morrell said.
“I want to fight him. Like my team is ready for the fight and we are ready for him. I’m very excited for the fight. That is a great opportunity for me. I think maybe in November is fighting.
“I’m ready. Like you want to fight, I’m here. You don’t want to fight? Like I don’t know but I’m 100% ready for Benavidez.”
Morrell was asked if his attempt to annoy Benavidez on social media was just a joke.
“It’s the program. I respect him. I respect the junior Benavidez, I respect the senior Benavidez, but that shows you know.”
Benavidez has had three times as many fights as his opponent, but parts of the boxing industry that appreciate Morrell believe he will be the next king of the super-middleweight. Fighting the fearsome Benavidez will by far be the biggest test of Morrell’s fledgling career.
“It’s a big opportunity,” he said.
“He’s a great fighter, he’s a big man. I think this is my chance for the next big man like the bigger man you know.
“I’m ready. You know? You want to fight? I want to fight the baby. Always, always.”
