Brandon Belt stays with San Francisco Giants, accepts $18.4 million qualified offer
NEW YORK – The First Warrior Brandon Belts accepted a qualified offer of $18.4 million from San Francisco Giants on Wednesdays instead of pursuing contractors as a freelance agent.
Belt was the only one to accept out of 14 free agents who received offers from their former clubs on Nov.
The players who declined the offer included the first fisherman Freddie Freeman (Atlanta Braves), shortstop Carlos Correa and right-handed people Justin Verlander (Houston Astros), the person on the right Raisel Iglesias (Angel of Los Angeles), lefthander Robbie Ray and second baseman/shortstop Marcus Semien (Toronto Blue Jays), midfielder Nick Castellanos (Cincinnati Reds), shortstop Trevor’s story (Colorado Rockies), shortstop Corey Seager and midfielder/midfielder Chris Taylor (Los Angeles Dodgers) and midfielder Michael Conforto (New York Mets).
Shortly after the deadline, Verlander agreed to a one-year $25 million deal that included a player option for a second season, sources told ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Two of the players who received offers have closed contracts with new teams. Lefthander Eduardo Rodriguez left Boston on a five-year, $77 million contract with Detroit Tigersand right-handed people Noah Syndergaard left the Mets on a $21 million, one-year deal with the Angels.
Belt, 33, recorded a career-best 29 home runs last season and hit .274 with 59 RBI.
